For A Developing Country Like India, Poverty Eradication Should Be A Priority
Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind
Panagariya made a statement on Monday about the problem of Poverty in India. He
said that at this point India should focus more on reducing poverty in India
than it does on reducing the inequality.
Nirmal
Singh 3C says that to improve the Indian economy there is an underlying
need for the country to focus on providing equal opportunities, proper
healthcare and better education but this can also not be ignored that the
problem of poverty is deeply rooted in the country and it is high time that it
becomes a priority for the country.
Nirmal Singh 3C says that talking of poverty and the policies that
the country has come up with to solve it, we had nothing to discuss. Though
there are many policies that were made to tackle the problem of inequality in
the 60s and the 70s and are still implemented till now. They were necessary in
the 60s or the 70s or for the next twenty years, but with the changing times,
the policies should have changed but they did not.
Nirmal Singh 3C believes that it is for the developed countries and
the rich ones that inequality is a much bigger issue. For developing countries
like India, the multi-dimensional problems can be tackled once they have
totally eradicated the poverty from the economy. Different states in the
country see face different kind of inequality problems, where some states still
suffer Gender inequality, others monetary, there is no part that is completely
unbiased in its operations.
The key to solving all such
problems is poverty eradication.
Nirmal
Singh 3C says that with a major chunk of the population below the poverty
line, it is suggested that the ones below the poverty line are not ignored. If
the country starts following the pattern of a steady and organized development,
then the problem will be solved. Currently India is following a zigzag manner
of development, sure it is developing but not the way it should. There are
sectors that are in a miserable condition still nothing has been done to
improve that, until the focus shifts towards organized development, the problem
shall not be solved.
