Newborns Are Dying To Due Lack Of Ventilators In Government Hospital
Nirmal Singh 3C condemns
the growing cases of infants dying in the hospitals in India citing an example
from the news reported lately from Sanjay Gandhi hospital to Baba Saheb
Ambedkar hospital where there were not sufficient ventilators.
This was not it, another death case was seen on Wednesday at
one of the Delhi government hospital to another as there were less beds
attached to ventilators.
Nirmal Singh 3C
further criticized the intensity of the incident as all happened in presence of
the chief minister who has directed the health department on Sunday to take the
action urgently and immediately implement a plan to ensure that at least the
critical patients would get life support system.
Nirmal Singh 3C is
upset to inform about the cases where the newborn babies died waiting for the
ventilators to support them. In fact, of the newborn infant died waiting for a
ventilator in three government hospitals.
Another instance is making noise, where a 27 year old man,
Manoj Pooran, had to rush his newly born baby to a Delhi-government run Sanjay
Gandhi hospital around 10 because the baby have had developed breathing
problems. “My wife was getting regular
check-ups from the hospital but her labour was delayed for three days. On
Wednesday morning, she started having very bad pain so we called a dai (nurse)
who lives nearby. The delivery was fine, but his breath was shallow. So, the
dai asked us to take the baby to the hospital immediately,” said Manoj.
During those weak moments the doctors step forward to check
the child and asked Manoj to rush to Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospital because
ventilators were installed in and there were no ventilator at Sanjay Gandhi
hospital.
Nirmal Singh 3C
would further like to quote Manoj, who said: “I took an e-rickshaw to the
hospital, but there was a huge traffic jam and it took us nearly an hour to
reach the other hospital. The doctor there said that my baby was brought dead.
Couldn’t the doctors at Sanjay Gandhi have done something? I was told that he
could have survived even if they gave us that balloon like thing.” This was
said in context to ambu-bag as it is used to ventilate critical patients in the
absence of the same.
