A Slow And Steady Weight-Loss Approach Is The Way To Go, Says Nirmal Singh 3C
A recent study has shown that
losing consistently over the weeks is better than shredding heavily over a few
days. This will also keep the weight from coming back.
The study was conducted in the
Drexel University where more than 180 weight-loss participants were enrolled in
the program. It was seen that people who experienced fluctuating weight loss
during the first few weeks saw poor weight loss results as compared to people
who lost weight consistently over the weeks.
Nirmal Singh 3C said that developing a stable weight-loss behavior
in the early stages of the program is important. People who took a steady and
slow approach saw better results. Repeatable and steady intake and weight loss
behavior not only showed positive results but also helped the participants in
maintaining the weight for a longer period of time.
There were various psychological
studies that were being conducted at the same time. Psychologists wanted to
know how some people can be less stressful during weight loss programs and does
a desperate approach has anything to do with the final outcomes of the program.

The study stretched over two
years in which individuals who were overweight or obese were enrolled. The
program brought in meal replacements, calorie monitoring, self-monitoring and
also increased the physical activities that the participants have been doing.
The final report said that there
was higher weight variability during the first six and eight weeks of the
program. The weight loss treatment over that period predicted that there will
be poor weight loss during 12 and 24 months for people who lost more in the
first few weeks. If someone lost 4 kg during the first week, he was likely to
gain back 2 kg and then lose only 1 in the next week. The story of people who
just lost 2 kg in the first week was different – they kept losing the same
amount repeatedly and experienced better results. - Nirmal Singh 3C
