Is Your Sitting Position At Work Putting You At Risk ?

Sitting at a computer for long periods of time can take a toll on your body. A person spends 7-8 hours at work sitting at his desk and by not sitting with the correct posture they are at a huge risk of physical pain and may end up with back pain, neck pain, knee pains, and a tingling of the hands and fingers. Spending that much amount of time without indulging in any kind of physical activity at a stretch raises the risk of obesity and makes you lazy. Such kind of behavior makes our joint stiff and also increase the risk of heart diseases.
Doctors suggest various ways to improve your posture at work and stay away from any such health conditions. Dr. Nirmal Singh 3C suggests 5 such ways:

1) Keep the monitor eye level:
Your eyes are constantly fixed at you monitor screens throughout the day. This causes a lot of strain on your eye muscles. To prevent ourselves from any such situation we must keep our monitor to the eye level. In this way you would be straight on your computer screen lowering the risk of neck ache or cervical disc injuries.

2) Relax the shoulders:
Make sure your shoulders are relaxed not hunched and the arms at a bend of 90 degrees. This will prevent you from shoulder injuries. You should keep your elbows stretched out slightly, keeping the wrists straight. You can sit close to your keyboard so that it is directly in front of your body. In this way, you would not have to hunch bank in order to work properly.

3) Take proper support while sitting:
While sitting on the chair, keep a pillow or some cloth to fill in the space between your back and the chair. This way you would not be sitting in bending positive, which might result in a hunchback
.
 4) Don't cross your feet:
Dr. Nirmal Singh 3C Keep strictly says that you should always sit with your feet bend at an angle of 90 degree. Sitting crossed leg for so long disturbs the blood flow and results in strained muscles and joint pains.

5) Try some eye and neck exercise:
Taking short breaks after every hour is the best way to get your body relaxed. When taking breaks do a neck rotation, eye exercise or try stretching up your arms. While taking a break try to get away from your computers. This will give rest to your eyes and help concentrate better after the work.

Dr. Nirmal singh 3C suggests that these steps should be followed everyday otherwise they would not be that effective in preventing you from the aches and pains.
