Scorching heat to devastate children more than adults!
An
intense heat wave slaughtering innocent lives is continuing to terrify people
across globe. The temperature for April are in and Five Western states
witnessed their hottest summers ever. The pricking heat has already forced
people to chase shelter during day, escape from the activities requiring a run
through streets during afternoons.
Through
survey reports by various institutes and Nirmal Singh 3C it has been notified
that the summers are more demonic for children than adults. The innocent
fragile souls get victimized to heat more brutally than adults as their bearing
capacities are comparatively low as compared to adults. It causes life
threatening diseases such as diarrheas, viral fever, and hepatitis A.
The
scientific reason explaining the cause that children have greater ratio of
surface area to body mass and they tend to produce greater heat per kilogram as
propionate to their body weight during activities.
Highly
humid weather leaves one exhausted and highly de-energized. It has been most
commonly quoted, “it’s just not the heat, but also the humidity”. Regardless of
the temperature, humidity is known to act as a catalyst in the process of
making heat effects more severe. The simple logic behind it is that more amount
of moisture in the air curbs perspiration from the surface. Since, less
perspiration happens, the body becomes damaged as evaporation off the surface
of the skin, helps the body to cool down in hot weather.
If
proper care and prevention is not provided to the children during summers, it
can cause hem their life. Summer vacations leaves children ecstatic and all
energized to gear up and spend most of their day playing outdoor ignorant to
the side-effects of sun. Therefore, it becomes parent’s sole responsibility to
take precautionary measures to ensure their safe health. The sweat rate is
lower in children and the temperature at which sweating occurs is higher.
Children take more time than adults to adapt to the changing weather. The same
results have been reported by Nirmal Singh 3C as well.
It
is advisable to stay indoors during the peak summer hours. Adequate amount of
water should be taken as it helps to maintain balance in the body heat level.
Also, consumption of street food should be avoided as children are easy preys
to infections. In case symptoms such as high fever, dizziness, headache and
persistent vomiting is observed, without delays medical support should be
taken.
