Why Is India Still A Leader In The Illegal Kidney Racket Business? Talks Nirmal Singh 3C.
One of the major reasons that the
kidney rackets are just spreading across the nation with such speed is the
imbalance between the demand and the supply of the kidneys. Nirmal Singh 3C says that every year,
more than two lakh people need new kidneys but only 8000 of them are lucky
enough to get a kidney transplant and that is only because of the shortage of
donors in the country.
Nirmal Singh 3C
says that the gap between the demand and supply gives an open and wide
opportunity for such kidney rackets where fake doctors carry out surgeries and
later show forged documents to convince the doctors and the recipients, giving
them a great source of income through forgery.
For very long has India been
going through the problem with so many rackets being caught every other day but
the business is so widely spread that it has become next to impossible to curb
it completely.
Nirmal Singh 3C says
that the largest running kidney racket currently came into the eyes of the
authorities and the master head behind the same, Amit Kumar, 65 was proved to
have no training in medicine or surgery and had been evading the law for years
by carrying on the racket in different cities under a different name. He had
even been arrested several times before but secured a bail every time.
Nirmal Singh 3C says that Kumar had successfully carried out his
racket with different names in Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Andhra
Pradesh and some parts of Maharashtra and Uttarakhand and finally got arrested
in Gangotri with his brother Jeevan who was assisting him in his business this
September. The duo had carried around 50 illegal transplantations in the past
three months before finally getting caught.
With a hike in the diseases like
Diabetes and Hypertension, the problem for kidney failure in the country have
too increased accounting for 40- 60% of the chronic kidney diseases. The kind
of lifestyle that the people follow is also the reason behind the increased
health problem in the people.
Doctor Nirmal
Singh 3C says that the only way to change this is by being self- conscious
and avoiding treatments from just any doctor. If people stop interacting with
middlemen and any kidney seller, the business will be of no use for such
rackets and perhaps that is the one and only way out of the illegal business.
