A Vegan, Gluten-Free Diet This Diwali For The Bengalureans - Nirmal Singh 3C
Nirmal Singh 3C says that Diwali
has always been associated with a heavy dosage of dry fruits and sweets but as
everything is bound to change someday, Bengalureans have decided to make this
Diwali that day. This year, people of Bengaluru will go for a sugar-free, vegan
and a gluten-free diet. Everyone in Bengaluru is taking this healthy approach
very seriously and the ordering of the sugar-free gift hampers has already
started, a month in advance.
Like many Bengalurians, Nobuko
Yamashita, who happens to be a Japanese food writer, has ordered a couple of
vegan cheesecakes. ‘I have been living in Bengaluru for many years now and like
my Japanese and Indian friends, I like to celebrate Diwali in full flow, there
is no holding back. This year I wanted to introduce my friends to a healthy
lifestyle and how they can enjoy without punching their health in the guts’, she
told Nirmal Singh 3C.
New Year is approaching fast and
this gluten-free, vegan diet is being introduced and advertised in Bengaluru to
make the switch less turbulent for the people. Preeti Punjabi, a lawyer by profession,
says that she will go completely vegan this Diwali and urges others to also try
that. She has personally designed sugar-free chocolates, hampers, gift boxes,
and vegan jams for Diwali. Punjabi and Yamashita both want to represent their
lifestyle and showcase the importance of a healthy and mindful living.
People who are working for this
cause this Diwali are making a point through their wellness gift hampers and
are being helped by the local boutique bakers and department stores.
It is, in the end, about living a
healthy life and enjoying. When you can get the same enjoyment from buckwheat
pancakes, sugar-free chocolates, kale chips and gluten-free salads then there
is no sense to eat unhealthy just for the sake of it. - Nirmal Singh 3C
