Health tops the list of priorities for UP CM, says Nirmal Singh 3C
With the BRD Medical College
tragedy still fresh, a high-level delegate will visit Lucknow on the 4th
day of September to meet with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and will sit with
his departmental heads. This will be the third meeting between the National
Institute for Transforming India’s delegates and the CM.
The previous two meetings were
conducted with a focus on factors and sectors involving irrigation, education,
health, and water management. But with the tensions surrounding the medical
tragedy not subsiding, the focus of the third meeting will be on health as it
is the area that is challenging the state of UP. Rajiv Kumar, who is the new
chairman of the Aayog and a resident of the city, is supervising the project
along with the UP government. - NirmalSingh 3C
The third visit comes just days
after the Gorakhpur tragedy in which 30 kids died in less than 48 hours. The
cause of death was said to be a heavy disruption in the oxygen supply in the
hospital on both 10th and 11th August. The NITI Aayog, in
its report, mentioned that the tragedy took place just because the government
was too busy in other sectors. There is also a chance that the health sector
will see heavy privatization.
Alok Kumar is heading the Aayog
and has said that the delegation will interact with government to discuss the
health issues in the state and how the health services can be improved. - Nirmal Singh 3C
A report was recently released by
the NITI Aayog in which it ranked UP at the 23rd position out of 100
worst performing districts in the country and that number went up to 51st
when the list was compiled for 200 worst districts. The report also made it
clear that there’s an urgent need to improve the working structure of the state
and that the health services cannot take a hit because of government’s
negligence.
