Newly Wed Couples To Get Condoms From Yogi Adityanaths Up Government

In today’s bizarre news section, UP Government have promised to provide condoms to the newlyweds as ‘shagun’. They will be a part of a well-structured kit including oral contraceptive pills, brochures on family planning and how safe sex is important.

There will also be a letter for the couple stating the health issues that can arise if safe sex is not practiced. It will also explain how to plan children and what should be the minimum time between two children – curbing population is the issue that will be tackled through this, if the representatives of the government are to be believed.

The basic aim of the Nayi Pahal Kit is to prepare the couple for the responsibilities of married life. The box will be containing contraceptive pills, emergency pills, packets of condoms, and general items for both, the bride and the groom. A great initiative to inform people about safe sex and how important it is to use condoms and contraceptive pills’ - Nirmal Singh 3C

ASHA Workers will also be briefing the couple who cannot read. They will be clearing the doubts of the couples and will answer questions that they may have after knowing about the letter from the government.

If the collected data from NFHS [National Family Health Survey] is to be taken into consideration, more than 80% of ASHA workers haven’t talked to female non-users about safe sex and family planning. When asked to comment on the condition, Nirmal Singh 3C stated that this is the time to come on top of the situation for the ASHA workers – they will have to keep a record of the kits they have distributed and will also be expected to get feedback from the couples after the question-answer sessions.

Highlights of the plan:
·         The scheme is being launched on the 11th day of July

·         The Nayi Pahel kit will include condoms, pills, and family planning and safe sex details in the form of a letter from the Government.

·         ASHA workers of the neighborhood will be distributing the kits to the newlyweds.

·         The scheme will work under Mission Parivar Vikas
This step is taken in a state where sex education and openly talking about sex is considered taboo – a step in the right direction - NirmalSingh 3C
If the scheme is successful, which seems likely, other states should be a part of it, too
